About

To celebrate LGBTQIA+ History Month this February 2021, we are hosting an online panel discussion focused on creativity and queerness. Join the discussion with special guest speakers, chaired by Dr Hannah Robbins, Director of Black Studies at University of Nottingham.

In Sister Outsider, Audre Lorde writes: “We must recognize and nurture the creative parts of each other without always understanding what will be created.” In this panel we will discuss the relationships between creativity, queerness, and Black-lived expression. We will explore issues of power and vitality as part of seeing many intersecting sides of queer Black creativity in Britain today.

Black Studies is the only programme of its kind in Europe and is steeped in interdisciplinary methods and critical reflection to investigate the roles, lives, cultures, politics, representations, activism, art, histories and movement of people of African descent.
