On Being An Artist has been produced as part of CVAN EM’s partnership with CAMEo, the University of Leicester’s Research Institute for Cultural and Media Economies. It is an easy but valuable take on the practice of being an artist and draws on the research carried out by Dr Paula Serafini with the Document artists throughout 2017 and 2018.
A double-sided poster featuring images from each of the artists and their words of advice, it visualises an artist’s career, illustrates what goes into maintaining a career, explores the motivations for pursuing a practice and expresses the view that there is no one way of being an artist.
