Leicester’s 2017 open exhibition opened last night to an audience eager to see the selection chosen from work submitted by artists from across the East Midlands.
Now in its 28th year, the Open showcases work from artists young and old making contemporary art and craft competing to win a range of artists prizes including the £1000 Attenborough Prize.
A panel of independent judges selected works from the hundreds of applications from artists aged 5 towards established talents of national repute. The judges this year were Elizabeth Hawley, Director of the Contemporary Visual Arts Network East Midlands, along with Leicester-based artists Kush Kali and Jane Sunbeam.
The exhibition continues until 26 August 2017 at:
