MIMA are looking to appoint a curator who identifies as disabled to join us for a year-long funded project.
We are a gallery/ museum based in the centre of Middlesbrough in the Tees Valley that has an art collection, an exhibition programme and a busy programme of activities with the community.
We’re looking for someone to work with us from October 2019 to August 2020. Candidates should think of themselves as a curator who identifies as a disabled person. This project is part of a collaboration between MIMA, DASH, a disability-led visual arts organisation, and Midlands Art Centre (MAC) and supported by Arts Council England.
The curator will work with the collection at MIMA to do research and put together a public project. We are open to any interests and specialisms. The project can take any form: it might be a series of public events, an exhibition, a publication, or something else.
While the curator is here at MIMA they will:
- learn new skills
- work up ideas with the support of MIMA’s team
- develop and deliver a curatorial project at MIMA with our collection
- Deadline: 26 July 2019
- For application and more information please go to MIMA’s website.
- Accessible video for callout https://youtu.be/KtQWl41uiPk
PLEASE CONTACT US TO DISCUSS SUBMITTING AN APPLICATION IN ANOTHER FORMAT OR FOR SUPPORT.
For more information and to send your application, contact: Helen Wickens (Assistant Learning Curator, MIMA) and/or Mike Layward (DASH Artistic Director).
