Responsible to the Deputy Director to deliver an efficient, profitable and high quality retail, catering, admissions and membership operation achieving income and KPI targets and maximising profitability.
COMMERCIAL DRIVE AND BUSINESS ACUMEN
- Maximise income from and effectively manage core operating activities
- Identify, advise on and exploit opportunities for new commercial initiatives
- Develop and implement policies, processes and systems relating to all commercial activities to promote the smooth delivery of commercially successful, customer-focused, visitor services.
- Report monthly on net profit and KPIs of all commercial activities.
- Develop a 5 year business plan for commercial income streams.
- Maintain awareness of market developments across relevant sectors and amongst suppliers, partners, potential partners and competitors
STAFF MANAGEMENT
- Prepare and staff all rotas including holiday cover
- Manage and monitor holiday requests
- Monitor and record absences
- Ensure accurate input of staff hours for payroll requirements in a timely manner
- Manage the performance of all members of the commercial teams; provide regular feedback, probationary reviews and performance development reviews
- Manage the recruitment of the commercial teams with the Office Manager
- Identify any training needs for the team to ensure continuous development is encouraged
OPERATIONS
- Keeping commercial staff informed of sales targets and gift aid targets and monitoring team performance against them
- Ensuring the commercial operations run efficiently and effectively to meet visitor expectations ensuring accurate and timely processing of all transactions so that data collected is accurate and reliable for financial and marketing needs
- Responsible for the achievement of the sales revenue and net profit targets as agreed in the annual budget
- Shape and implement a commercial sales strategy including electronic communications with the customer and member database
- Provide accurate and timely financial reports on sales activity and profitability, with explanations of variances v KPIs/targets
- Deal with customer complaints, both face to face and via written correspondence, on a timely basis
