Conservator (Fixed Term contract)

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced, organised and enthusiastic object Conservator to join Birmingham Museums Trust.

As a Conservator, you will provide a comprehensive interventive conservation service for the Trust and will promote best practice for the conservation of objects in the collections held across the Trust’s nine sites.

The core work programme will be the condition checking and conservation of objects required for exhibition, capital projects and loans. Although a general objects conservator, you will be experienced in inorganic conservation. You will be a key part of the conservation team and will work closely with the Loans Registrar, Collections & Storage Officer at the Museum Collections Centre and provide advice to the Public Art Programme.   You will be joining at an exciting time for Birmingham Museums Trust as we work towards a programme of major capital projects.

The successful candidate will have a recognised professional qualification in conservation and be Icon accredited or committed to achieving accredited status. You will be a good team player, with the ability to work independently.

Mainly based at Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery or the Museum Collections Centre, you will be expected to travel and work at our other sites.
