LEVEL’s 2021 Artist Residency

LEVEL’s 2021 Artist Residency Callout is now OPEN!

LEVEL is seeking bold, ambitious and cutting edge ideas to support our mission in celebrating the Art that Difference Makes.

Do you have a project idea that you want to start? Are you interested in developing your creative practice alongside our ethos of producing high-quality projects for, by and with adults with disabilities? If so, we want to hear from you!

Our residency programme is a pilot initiative. We are offering an artist retreat based at the LEVEL Centre* – a fully accessible, purpose-built centre nestled in the beautiful Peak District. We hope to develop partnerships and relationships with the selected visiting artists and companies beyond these residencies. We want to be challenged by new ideas and we want artists to have resources and expertise to think and create.

*In the current pandemic it is still uncertain whether or not we will be able to offer a retreat package. If restrictions apply, LEVEL will instead offer the residency online.

There will be a financial contribution towards each residency of up to £2000.

Please note, we will only accept applications from UK-based Artists and Companies who either identify as disabled or whose work is suitable for adults with disabilities and the wider community.

Residency Dates

Our Residencies will take place between April – September 2021, dates to be agreed.

Who can apply?

We are looking to support UK-based, established professional artists and companies from a variety of disciplines (visual, performing & digital).

Our residencies are for the following categories:

Learning disabled artist or company (visual, performing or digital arts)
Artist or company who identifies as disabled (visual, performing or digital arts)
Digital artist or company
Visual artist or company
Performing artist or company

Important dates:

The deadline for submissions is: Monday 1st March 2021 @ 10 am

Interviews will take place between 16th – 19th March 2021
