We are seeking a Librarian and archivist who will oversee organizing the personal art library of Anita Zabludowicz. The library, housed in two main locations holds resources including books and catalogues (as well as some films, and audio files) relating to artworks and artists, many of whom are in the Zabludowicz Collection. This is a self-directed role and the employee will be working independently over two locations in North London.
The ideal candidate will be self-employed, highly organized and detail-oriented, a great researcher with strong commitment and self-discipline as well as a good sense of humour and love of (art and) books.
The duties include:
- Cataloguing and organizing the physical situation of the library
- Conducting an audit of valuable and rare items books.
- Packing and protecting items that are vulnerable or delicate.
- Developing and implementing a simple cataloguing system that can be used in the future.
The required skills include
- Ability to think analytically and to develop new or revised systems and procedures
- Ability to exercise initiative and independent judgment.
- Knowledge of computers, the internet, and freely available library software.
- Knowledge and interest in contemporary art and artists an advantage
