Relationship Manager, Visual Arts

We are looking for someone with significant expertise in the visual arts (including art, craft, photography, design) as well as a good understanding of how arts organisations work and how they can engage people from a wide variety of backgrounds.

The Midlands is growing its reputation as a great place for artists and makers to work and live. Arts Council uses its funding and advice giving to help a diverse range of independent artists and makers along with professional arts organisations and communities. We collaborate with a range of partners including Universities and local councils in achieving our work getting the best art to everyone.

Relationship Managers are Arts Council England’s experts and provide our front line interface with the sector. Our ideal candidate will have first-hand knowledge of national and international art practice and you will be comfortable discussing artistic work and ideas as well as organisational matters like governance and finance. Audiences are important to us and you will also have a good understanding of how the arts can have a transformative impact on people’s lives.

This is a fast paced role requiring independent working, travel across the Midlands and the ability to juggle multiple priorities. A strategic thinker, you will use your knowledge and judgement to support a wide range of arts leaders and artists in these challenging times.

Working with numerous Arts Council staff and teams around the country you’ll have strong interpersonal skills and be a great team player. Holding important external relationships you will have strong communication and influencing skills. Strong writing skills are important.
