Signage Commission

Nonsuch and The Toy Library invite proposals from local artists and designers for the production and delivery of outdoor signage as part of Wonder Woods 2020.

Wonder Woods is a year long programme, featuring seasonal festivals, community projects and artist commissions. It will create a new outdoor space for drama, visual and performance arts and creative media embedded within the landscaping of a community woodland in Barkers Wood, Nottingham.

Artists are invited to produce high quality, accessible and weather-proof signage for the festival dates of the programme. The commission will focus on celebrating nature. It seeks to attract communities to reconnect with their natural surroundings, and rediscover the magic and beauty of this woodland area. The signage must welcome the public in, and act as an information point for the festival activities.

This will be a semi-permanent installation, and will be in place for up to 1 year and must be made of durable materials that will stand the test of time. Materials such as metal, steel and timber with graphic interchangeable panels would be welcomed.

The 2020 events will take place on Saturday 18th April 2020 and Saturday 11th July 2020, in Barkers Wood, Bulwell. The events are expected to attract around 4,000 people, mainly local families, community members and groups.
