We are looking for a versatile individual to join our Technician team at Farnham.
This position is primarily to support students in the range of fine art workshops and facilitate a multidisciplinary approach to materials and making. This will include the delivery of technical inductions and demonstrations in to equipment and processes and ensuring that the safety of our learners is maintained at all times. In a fine art context, experience of working with a comprehensive range of materials and application techniques is essential.
The successful applicant will contribute to the care and day-to-day operation of the woodwork and stretcher making facilities including supervision, management and maintenance of specialist equipment. You will have experience and competence in a range of casting and mouldmaking materials, techniques and processes including general plaster working, gelflex, silicone and lost wax and Injection wax techniques.
The post holder will also work with and assist the foundry technicians in the operation and maintenance of the foundry therefore experience in this area is necessary.
The post holder will have a competent knowledge and understanding of the H&S hazards associated with woodwork equipment and materials, techniques and processes used for casting and mould making. Experience of relevant safe working practices and high degree of knowledge in all appropriate H&S procedures is essential.
You will also have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to problem solve and apply initiative. Whilst working under pressure, you will be able to demonstrate a positive and flexible approach when working with students and staff. The ability to work as part of a team is essential.
The part-time salary for this role is £18,452 – £20,752 per annum.
