Visitor Services Manager

The Barber Institute are currently seeking to appoint an experienced, inspirational and highly-motivated Visitor Services Manager to join our team.

This is a new position which will enable the Barber to take its offer to the public to a different level and will contribute to the next phase of the Barber’s strategic development. Working closely with the Head of Public Engagement, the Visitor Services Manager will be responsible for the Front of House team and delivery of an excellent experience for all our visitors and building users, being a highly motivated, visible and enthusiastic lead.

The Barber Institute, part of the University of Birmingham, was founded in 1932 ‘for the study and encouragement of art and music’.  It holds one of the most outstanding and internationally significant art collections assembled during the 20th century– housed in a listed Art Deco building. A programme of exhibitions, high profile loans and displays compliment the collection.

This an exciting time for the Barber- in 2017, more people visited the Barber galleries than in any previous year in our history with 65,590 visits being made.  The Barber is now entering a new strategic phase with a central focus on public engagement and delivering sector-leading Visitor Experience and Learning and Engagement.
