Youth Programme Coordinator

With over 1,600 square metres of light-filled gallery spaces, The Hepworth Wakefield is the largest purpose-built exhibition space outside London. Since opening in May 2011 to public and critical acclaim we have welcomed over 1.8 million visitors. The gallery brings together work from Wakefield’s art collection, exhibitions by contemporary artists and rarely seen works by Barbara Hepworth. In July 2017 we were chosen as Art Fund Museum of the Year 2017 and we value all our staff and their commitment to driving this success.

Following a successful 3 year pilot project, we are looking to recruit a Youth Programme Coordinator to help shape and develop a new phase of our learning programmes for young people outside of formal education.   The Youth Programme Coordinator will work with the Senior Learning Manager to devise, deliver and evaluate ambitious new strands to the existing Integrated Youth Programme that will see new work developed with inclusion units and PRU’s, weekend taster sessions and courses at the gallery, mentoring opportunities and artist residency schemes, in addition to the existing programme of weekly drop-in sessions.

The Integrated Youth Programme works with local youth service providers, NHS partners and early intervention programmes to support young people ages 11 – 25 who are Not in Education, Employment or Training, or at risk of becoming NEET, to engage with activities and programmes at the gallery, in school settings and in the community, with the aim of supporting young people to develop life skills, personal resilience and nurture and develop their creativity.

If you have experience of working with young people outside of formal education, are passionate about the arts and are committed to supporting young people to achieve their potential, we’d love to hear from you.
