The Museums Association (MA) has announced the programme for its Moving on Up one-day conference, taking place at Nottingham Contemporary on 27 February.
The day will include sessions on developing your career, the challenges of working in museums sector and how to respond to them, and on being a force for radical change.Breakout sessions will cover CV writing, legal support, working outside the museums sector, and networking. Speed mentoring will offer delegates one-to-one advice with speakers and senior museum professionals. Moving on Up will be chaired by Simon Brown, the curator at Newstead Abbey and project curator at the National Justice Museum. Brown is also an MA board member.
Speakers will include Jo Jones, the head of arts and museums at Leicester City Council, Skinder Hundal, the chief executive of New Art Exchange, Nottingham, and Alex Woodall, a freelance consultant and the former head of learning at the Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts, Norwich.
A session on radical change in the sector featuring alumni of the MA’s Transformers programme will include contributions from Alex Nicholson-Evans, the commercial director of Birmingham Museums Trust, and Rachel Noël, the curator of young people’s programmes at Tate.
