Have you recently completed an undergraduate degree in an art, design or media related subject and are looking to further develop your artistic practice and career? Longbridge Public Art Project (LPAP) is offering you the opportunity to spend two months (20 June – August) enhancing your practice and learn new skills as you enter the next stage of your artistic development.
LPAP is an ongoing contemporary site-specific public art project by WERK that began in 2012. Based on the site of the former Longbridge Car Factory that closed in 2005 with the loss of 7,500 jobs, the area is being redeveloped within one of the largest regeneration schemes in the UK by St. Modwen.
Summer School Participants will have opportunities to:
- Engage with and support the LPAP artists-in-residence.
- Attend a unique programme of workshops, crits and talks by the artists-in-residence, WERK team and visiting international artists.
- Have access to a collaborative workspace area
- Develop new work in response to Longbridge that will result in a public exhibition in the LPAP | SPACE.
- Develop and enhance your skills in arts management and production.
- The LPAP Summer School is free, participants are required within this placement to provide invigilation of the LPAP | SPACE as part of the Summer School.
- Activities scheduled to take place on a weekly basis (minimum half a day a week), with some evenings and weekends.
Candidates:
- Must have completed an undergraduate degree in an art related course in the 2015/16 academic year.
- Highly motivated, keen to develop their artistic practice and be willing to fully contribute to the LPAP Summer School and wider LPAP programme.
- Punctuality and a willingness to collaborate and share their ideas with peers is essential.
- The WERK team encourage applicants from all backgrounds and artistic disciplines.
