About

During 2016, Banks Mill affiliate member Kerri Pratt will conduct a research based project supported using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England. Taking inspiration from the city of Derby, Kerri will be exploring and instigating new starting points for her work. The project entitled Reinventing the Landscape, aims to consider evidence of recent changes and plans for the future development of the city, a place commonly known as the city of invention.

During this time Kerri will be inviting members of the public who have lived or worked in Derby to become involved in the project by contributing stories, photographs and ephemera, documenting personal recollections of the changing city. Coupled with this, an alternative viewpoint will be sought from the younger generation, exploring aspirations and vision for their future city.

Through exploration of new media, approaches and ideas, the resulting output will be experimental in nature and promises to be an exciting phase of development for future new work from the Derbyshire based artist. If you wish to contribute to the project, please contact Kerri by emailing her kerripratt@ymail.com

Kerri is a fine artist living and working in Derbyshire. With a regular studio base at Harrington Mills Studios in Long Eaton, she recently held a nine month arts residency for the Jonathan Vickers Fine Art Award, working from Banks Mill Studios.

Kerri comments: “My work has references to man-made, industrial and urban landscapes. My most recent body of work took inspiration from the industrial heritage of my home county of Derbyshire and was exhibited in a solo exhibition at the Derby Museum and Art Gallery in Autumn 2015”.

Kerri’s exhibition opens on 1 August and will be open weekdays 10am-3pm – please book a viewing time by ringing 01332 594170. The exhibition runs until 26 August.

Kerri will be celebrating the opening of her exhibition by holding a launch event on Friday, 5th August from 5-7pm – everyone welcome.
