About

Showing alongside ‘Hybrids’ this project is inspired by the horse as an icon in our collective minds, a symbol of grace and power, something that can be tamed but retaining its wildness.

The Willow Horse Project by Maggie Cooper is the culmination of many years developing formal and informal basketry skills. The resulting sketches in willow, use the minimum quantity of material for the maximum impact. This is a process which involves knowledge of torsion and strength of the techniques, with the natural stems, which give a life-like appearance to the horses’ bodies.
