About
Meta4 are a diverse group of four Nottingham based artist printmakers who met on a Leicester Print Workshop course in April 2014. Their shared outlook and ambitions led to the development of Meta4 – a supportive and creative group who regularly meet to discuss and progress their ideas and work. Alchemy is the group’s first exhibition. In the group’s words:
“Since meeting at LPW we have met up about once a month to talk about art, printmaking and life in general.
“Our different interests and approaches ensure that our meetings are always lively and informative. By actively collaborating, sharing ideas, knowledge and experiences, we inspire and creatively challenge each other. This has enabled us to individually push our work forward and develop our practices in new and exciting directions.
“During the past year we have been planning this exhibition with a theme of Alchemy – a form of chemistry and speculative philosophy practiced in the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, concerned principally with discovering methods for transmuting baser metals into gold and finding a universal solvent and elixir of life.
“From the chaos of our individual lives and printmaking practice, we each search for our individual creative voice – our elixir of life.” You can find out more about the group here.
