Community Learning Programmer Project Officer

We are looking for an enthusiastic and creative individual who is passionate about museums and heritage. This temporary post is funded via the Arts Council England Museums Resilience Fund 2016-18 and will be an essential element of delivering the outcomes of the project ‘Building Stronger Collections for Wakefield’. The post is full time (37 hours per week) and is contracted until March 31st 2018.

You will work with others to programme and market learning events and resources that meet the needs of a diverse range of audiences both on and off site. The post holder will supervise Casual Learning Enablers and liaise with colleagues throughout the organisation to co-ordinate the community learning offer and ensure the day-to-day practicalities of events and workshops.
The Community Learning programmer will also strive to make the Handling Collection more useable and relevant to the needs of the service, by recruiting and mentoring a team of volunteers to undertake an audit and rationalisation project of this collection.

Based at Wakefield Museum, but working across our museum and castle sites, you will also have the opportunity to contribute to an exciting new learning programme at Pontefract Castle.

By the end of the project the post holder will leave the legacy of an informal learning programming system, a clear way of working with volunteers to audit collections, and an investigation into income-generation through a high quality informal learning programme.

The successful applicant will be required to complete a Disclosure Application Form and to provide criminal conviction information.

For further information and guidance, or to apply online please visit: www.wakefield.gov.uk . Alternatively, you can contact the Recruitment Line on 0345 8506506 (typetalk calls welcome) for an application form.
