Leading on City of Sanctuary for Autistic People in Portsmouth.
The Kongress projects first stage was a human centred action research project funded by Arts Council England helping to understand the challenges and opportunities for Neurodivergent Artists (ND) led by ND practitioners identifying barriers to engagement in the arts as both makers (including but not limited to: artist, performer, designer, writer, poet, musician), and participants or audience members. Outcomes included workshops, a website, presentations and a report that outlines the issues Neurodivergent creatives identified. Flow Observatorium identified an urgent need or action by the arts to understand, accept and accommodate Neurodiversity and the protected characteristics of Neurodivergent creatives in their future strategies and thinking.
Flow Observatorium have developed and presented resources to be be widely used across the arts, these include the ‘Kongress Project Report‘ and an ‘Appropriate Neurodivergent/Autistic language guide‘.
