A B&B is to be an interdisciplinary permanent showcase of the UK’s contemporary art and design artists. As a community interest company A B&B will function as a hotel and flagship way to exhibit and engage audiences with the viewing and education surrounding visual arts, architecture and design. We want art to become a staple amongst tourism and residential cultures that exist in a town such as Blackpool – an alternative immersive environment. Please read the artist commission brief carefully and submit proposals that reflect a sense of direction for your work and the understanding of how this is to be achieved in the context of a A B&B and Blackpool.
We are not looking for duplication or re-creation of what exists already in a unique setting such as Blackpool; we want what lies beyond the frame and to establish a new coastal culture where those who come to visit, participate or engage with A B&B literally support the arts while they sleep.
- Applications are open to all interested artists. It is preferred that applicants are available for one of the stated Artist Day Visit dates to best understand the project and it’s location. Key initial date is for Expressions of Interest no later than 7pm on 14th March 2016. Following this, 30 selected artists will have travel arranged for them by A B&B on one of the Artist Day Visit dates and be able to meet the project team, architect and Blackpool based practitioners.
