At the opening of our Cause & Effect Exhibition on Fri 17 Jun, Congregation – a special performance developed in collaboration with artist Sam Metz will take place. We are looking for individuals who would like to take part in a series of workshops and the final performance.
The Congregation workshops are free to join and are open to anyone over the age of 18. No performance training is needed to participate, although we would also like to work with dancers and performers.
During our movement workshops you will be invited to workshop ideas around the idea of ‘giving presence’ and what that might mean through physicality. The piece will last for 1 hour, so performers should be prepared for durational work (although the piece will not be at high energy for the entirety of the piece).
The workshops will inform the performance’s rehearsals and a performance at The National Centre for Craft and Design, Sleaford on the 17th of June to coincide with the Private View of Cause & Effect, which you will be a part of. All individuals will contribute something different and exciting to the piece.
If you would like to participate please send an email suggesting why you might be interested in the idea of ‘giving presence’ in a congregation movement piece (no more than 250 words) – to sammetz@outlook.com
We will read your statement of interest and if appropriate suggest some rehearsal dates. Rehearsals will be held in Nottingham, Leicester and Sleaford during May and June – attendance will depend on your location and availability and some travel costs may be covered.
Availability: You must be available from Mon 23rd May – Fri 17th June (evening event).
