About
Between Thursday 26th and Saturday 28th May, 10am to 5pm, at NN Contemporary Art’s Project Space, there will be an exhibition of works that have been created during the Artists in Residence @ C2C Social Action project, over the last 12 months in Northampton.
Artists in Residence, is a community based arts project, and on this second iteration, sees four artists work in collaboration with women who access services at C2C. The women are or have been in a variety of vulnerable situations, and the participating artists have been working and making art with them outdoors, at C2C’s Allotment Garden, as well as indoors at C2C’s Women’s Centre.
The artists are: Lead Artist and Curator of the programme and exhibition Emma Davies, and artists Clare Abbatt, Priya Chohan-Padia and Sam Gibson. The series of artist-led workshops uses a person-centred approach, which creates a heightened and meaningful engagement for each participant. Artists have based the workshops on their
artistic practice; and the workshops cover a multitude of art forms, including soundscapes, sculpture, installation, photography, printmaking, drawing, painting, collage, headdresses and assemblage.
This project shares experience in making art to create confidence, new skills and opportunities
for all involved and is supported by Arts Council England and the Kenneth Fund, via
Northamptonshire Community Foundation.
