Throughout lockdown artist Leila Houston has collaborated online with local community groups for her project Encrypted Sounds of Wellbeing, funded by Arts Council England.
The project will be presented as an online exhibition, launching on World Mental Health Day, Saturday 10th October 2020, and the public also have a chance to take part.
Encrypted Sounds of Wellbeing looks at our essential needs – such as food, a sense of security, health, connection to others – and how we ensure we maintain our wellbeing. We would like to know which needs you think are most important and what wellbeing means to you by inviting you to participate in a colour by numbers activity based on Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs and sending your interpretation to us. All returned designs will be included in the online exhibition and we will also select a small number of them to be exhibited at The Exchange Bar, Leicester.
The fantastic outline drawings are by a group of young creatives from diverse backgrounds who are based at Charnwood Arts.
By exhibiting work by artists and the public together we hope to visually represent a sense of community, accepting our similarities and differences, and to show solidarity on World Mental Health Day.
