Performing Alchemy: Artist Takeover at Attenborough Arts Centre.
Saturday 21 January – Sunday 22 January, FREE
This event is about energy. This event is about flux. This event is about the magicK which can be created with the simplest of elements. This is performance alchemy. Using the four elements, water, fire, earth, and air as thematic inspiration, artists from GuerillArtLab (G.A.L) collective explore the use of materials in performance. The physical remnants and residue left by the live actions is then transformed into documentative installation.
“MAKE/REPEAT/LOOP/EDIT/
Creating an uncanny ensemble and psychic bond between lone performer and collective bodies. Performing transient and powerful actions, solo, collaboratively and together, merging into a ritualistic feast for the senses.
It is lived-body magic/k, it’s ritual derived from fine art and performance art practices, sound/noise, embracing the chaos in order to find inner reconciliation. Adapting in response to the changing environment, the engagement of the viewer, and each other. The physical remnants and residue left by the live actions is then transformed into a ‘breathing’ installation.
“Organised chaos, trance hyper focused, collapsing energy. Failure to move, fatigue, failure to connect, meditation, breath connects bodies – connects me to you.”
