About

Two Queens present a solo exhibition of newly developed work by Birmingham-based artist Joanne Masding, ‘stuffs wander off, a shape steps in’. This is the first in a new programme of exhibitions and events at Two Queens across 2016-18, kindly supported using public funding from the National Lottery through Arts Council England, Leicester City Council and De Montfort University.

Joanne Masding’s work thinks about the worth, ownership and production of physical stuff, and how this translates to a world that is increasingly digital, immaterial and reproducible. Her new body of work combines sculptural and data-based processes, creating hybrid, animated objects that offer up layers of information that slip and loop on screens and sculptural surfaces.Taking as their starting points objects borrowed from various repositories – from museums to data mines, the works aim to disrupt, channel and influence, invoking the power of the objects we own or wish we owned. Through these works, ‘stuffs wander off, a shape steps in’ seeks to think about what an object could be and how we might experience it.

Exhibition Open Thursday – Saturday 12-6pm
