About

Leftovers features the work of Surface Gallery’s many creative volunteers who specialise in varying practices: from the large ‘glitch’ photomontage of ‘Displaced/Replaced’ exploring the social, cultural and political climate of the modern world, to the delicate glass designs of Phoebe Joy, and the photographic work of Nicola Beckett, whose images of nightfall investigate the effect sexual harassment has on our perception of darkness. Leftovers promises a captivating exhibition showcasing, as the Nottingham Post remarked of last year’s volunteer show, some of “the best and brightest” talent in town.

Leftovers is Surface Gallery’s way to reward and acknowledge the hard work of its many talented volunteers. The gallery, which recently celebrated its 18th year, is a not-for-profit organisation run exclusively by volunteers who dedicate their time throughout the year.

Leftovers will open in the Main Gallery with a DJ set from Sam Wilch and Carl Sheppard in conjunction with On Colour, a solo exhibition by Samuel Harriman in the Project Space. As always, there will be a donations bar with ales from local brewery, Springhead.
