About
Modern Painters, New Decorators is a new art project based in Loughborough, East Midlands. We run a monthly programme of art related activities including exhibitions, talks, events, markets and workshops for the creative community. This event features:
Cotton Clara
Starting in 2014 designer maker Chloe Hardisty has recently made the jump to work on her online business full-time. Creating bright and bold embroidery kits and creating projects for Mollie Makes and Reloved Magazine, Chloe has used Etsy, Not On The High Street and Instagram to build a business and create a job she loves.
The Generator Loughborough
Jill and Kevin from The Generator will be telling us how they’re restoring the historic Frederick Street building to make creative hub which supports startups and artists in the centre of town. Their vision is to expand Loughborough’s creative economy and reinvigorate our town centre. When completed the space will offer offices, studios and exhibition spaces which will be used to be host organisations, events, exhibitions and training to sustain the practices of creatives in the town.
Turned On Its Head
Liz Clarke will be joining us to talk about Turned On Its Head, a dance company like no other. Liz creates and choreographs interactive dance shows for early years children which blend together storytelling, improvisation and a playful use of materials and environments. Liz has toured shows across the UK including The Curve and The Barbican and most recently she was awarded The Peoples Project, a partnership between the Big Lottery Fund, ITV, STV and The National Lottery that gives the public a say in awarding National Lottery funding.
