About

‘Signs of Love’ is the first solo exhibition by British-Ghanaian artist, Ama Dogbe commissioned by Modern Painters, New Decorators. Ama creates an ambitious installation where videos, paintings and sculptures explore home and family, inspired by extraterrestrial life, archaeological excavations and childhood memories. Our exhibition space will become a garden-like world where visitors uncover talismans, relics and icons. Immersive audio by musician Louis Jack transforms the gallery into a dreamscape of hip-hop, electronic and ambient music. The project started with a series of workshops with families and young people, where Ama explored symbols and memories connected to home through drawing and digital techniques. The project is funded by Arts Council England, Leicestershire County Council and Charnwood Borough Council.
