Alison Tyldesley love of landscape is the driving force behind all herpaintings. She is inspired by the drama of rapidly changing weather, light and colour. In particular, she is fascinated by the Peak District as she walks along its rugged edges and pathways. She aims to capture movement, intense light and atmosphere- particularly glowing horizons, wild skies, receding hills and textured foregrounds. Herintention is to create an emotional response to landscape and successfully negotiate the delicate balance between representation and abstraction. Her paintings are not usually depictions of a particular scene, although she does sometimes refer to the sketches she has made as she walks the landscape. Her work draws on memory and imagination. Paintings emerge over time as she layers colour to create texture, movement, light effects and tone. In addition, she scrapes, scratches, drips and reworks the paint until the process itself takes over
