Artist Commission

Artists and creatives are invited to propose a cave intervention as part of Nottingham Cave City Underground Festival.

About

Cave City invites audiences to explore what lies beneath their feet, through intriguing events including tours, talks, activities and experiences. The 2019 event will take place between Friday 5th and Tuesday 9th April across Nottingham.

The Commission

We are inviting artists and creatives to propose an intervention at Brewhouse Yard Caves. The format of the work should be an installation, rather than performance, giving the opportunity for audiences to discover the caves.

We would expect the work to respond to the location and encourage our city residents and visitors to engage and explore our City caves. Work should be artist led but can be made in collaboration with the community. The proposed intervention can be an existing work, but should be adapted to take the site into account.

Eligibility

Your proposal must:

• Present work at Brewhouse Yard Caves, between 5th-9th April
• Priority will be given to artists and creatives based in Nottingham
• You must have valid public liability insurance and if successful, produce a risk assessment for the activity

Budget

The intention is that one commission will be made, to a maximum budget of £1000, which should include any hire charges incurred for technical equipment required.

Submission

Please submit the following information:

1. Outline of the proposal including how it relates to the site
2. Budget breakdown
3. Your CV and details of relevant past projects
4. A copy of your Public Liability Insurance

Selection will be based on the quality of your idea, suitability for the site, and your ability to deliver the work to a high artistic standard and within the timescales and budget.
