AirSpace Gallery has been developing a series of GREEN projects in Stoke-on-Trent, looking at how artists use notions and themes of Food, Permaculture, Growing and Sustainability, and their efficacy in the post-industrial context of a City.
We are interested in why many artists are interested in working in this thematic area – the increase in the number of projects and artists employing food and growing as themes and methods of working, and to understand this in relation to how artists are tapping into resources and cultural heritage locally, and the impact this has on ways of working.
This 3 week residency is an opportunity for artists working in this sphere to test and develop existing practices and new works within one of the country’s leading artist-led spaces.
