Artists wanted for Contemporary Art Space Project

Iniva and RSA Academies are working together on the second year of a two-year programme of art-making and community engagement. The Contemporary Art Space Project supports the development of an outdoor contemporary art space in three RSA schools in the West Midlands. Designed to develop young people’s sense of identity and explore what it means to be human the project co-commissions new artworks in response to social issues the pupils identify as important. We are looking for three artists: one per school.

The artist will work closely with the school, the curator and collaborate with an art therapist to deliver three half-day workshops that integrate art and art therapy, embedding an understanding of emotional learning through contemporary art practice. Each artist will then develop an outdoor artwork inspired by the various responses and/or materials created in the workshops. A programme of engagement with the wider school community and public will follow.
