The University of Birmingham’s Research and Cultural Collections comprise several thousand artefacts, of local, national and international importance. They cover a breadth of disciplines and reflect the range of academic work at the University.
Research and Cultural Collections are of critical strategic importance to the Cultural Agenda and the University’s wider strategic framework, as the department supports research, teaching and career development as well as providing a series of outreach activities, exhibitions and events.
The Assistant Curator will support the University Curator in the care, display and interpretation of the University’s Research and Cultural Collections (RCC), contained in, broadly, nine discrete collections. The Assistant Curator is responsible for the day to day operation of curatorial work, including collections management and care, interpretation, research and teaching. Through various means, the post holder aims, in conjunction with colleagues to make the RCC accessible to staff, students, researchers and the general public on a local, national and international level.
Full time starting salary is normally in the range £26,052 to £28,452. With potential progression once in post to £32,004 a year.
