Associate Artist

Nottingham Contemporary is an international art gallery with a strong sense of local purpose.  Cited as the “UK’s most inspiring”, it presents three exhibition seasons per year and an extensive Learning programme.  We are looking to recruit an experienced and collaborative Associate Artist to support a new ambitious programme with schools. Our Learning programme works with 25,000 participants a year, focusing on supporting learning skills and combating social exclusion. It is a free, inclusive and inspiring place for people to develop personally and socially.

A new 3-year action research programme ‘Schools of Tomorrow’ funded by the Paul Hamlyn Foundation will build on our strong reputation and relationships with city schools and deepen our work. The research will respond to the needs of learners and the strategic needs of schools. It will develop the practices of teachers and artists through close collaboration and creative enquiry and bring about long-term change.

The Associate Artist will be part of the delivery team for our Schools of Tomorrow programme delivered in partnership with seven Primary schools and one Nursery School in Nottingham. They will work alongside a wider team of artists and programmers, teachers, school senior managers and academics. Together, they will create a programme shaped by the strategic needs of each school, develop and share practice to create long-term change.

Hours will be flexible, averaging 1 day a week typically during school terms, with the possibility of clusters of work as programmes dictate and develop. Please send completed applications by following the link below.
