Commission- School Production

Cultural Journeys is a junior school based project that includes the creation of a school production celebrating difference and diversity. We are looking to engage and inspire children with story-telling, music and creative writing workshops leading to a production to be shared with the entire school including family and friends.

People Express is supporting the South Derbyshire based school to commission an innovative artist, company or organisation who can provide hands on workshops, take children and parents from ideas, development and to the creation of the work. We are open to your ideas and interpretations about the theme. South Derbyshire is a predominantly white, working class area therefore we welcome and encourage applicants from diverse backgrounds to share their culture.

We are looking for a friendly, high quality artist with participatory experience of working in a school setting. The commission will be working with their Year 6 children aged 10-11 years old (3 classes). You will need an enhanced DBS certificate and public liability insurance. Delivery of the commission is October- December 2018 and session times are negotiable but need to work for the school for example, 6 weekly sessions followed by a full day during half term day, one week in school, etc.

Our budget is £2800 to include session delivery, VAT, travel and materials.
