ESP Programmer, Eastside Projects

ESP is Eastside Projects’ Associate Scheme. Through it we support the development of work, ideas and careers for our diverse membership of over 170 artists, curators and art-writers from Birmingham, the Midlands and beyond. Since 2008 ESP has provided vital infrastructure enabling artists and curators, at all career stages, to research, produce and thrive. For programme details visit www.extraspecialpeople.org

This role is hands on and delivery focused. As ESP Programmer you will collaborate with the Eastside Projects’ Directors and ESP members to initiate, devise and produce a broad programme of events, projects and opportunities. You will shape ESP and design and structure overlapping strands of activity designed to support all members – from recent graduates through to established practitioners.

As the public ‘face’ of ESP you will host and lead ESP events and will be central to building the ESP community, playing a key role in the production of new models, networks and possibilities for ESP’s members and Eastside Projects.

You will generate programmatic structures that give ESP’s activity coherence overall, but are flexible and responsive to members’ interests and the changing conditions of contemporary art production and will initiate, programme, organise and facilitate activity including:
• Events and activity that focuses on critical discourse around contemporary art practice.
• Workshops and events that focus on professional and skills development (in the widest sense).
• Exhibitions, residencies, publications and other projects and opportunities.

Eastside Projects is a free public space that is being imagined and organized by artists and designers. As such we wish to support and work with individuals who have an active practice as an artist, curator, art writer or designer.
