Festival Artist Commission (Visual Arts)

Made in Corby is a three-year programme of new arts activities funded by Arts Council England as part of its Creative People and Places programme. Our focus is on working with local communities, artists, arts and voluntary organisations, businesses and the public in Corby to ensure that the arts are at the heart of positive change in the town and the borough.

The KHL Big Local is a funded programme that brings support and investment to the residents of Kingswood and Hazel Leys to make the community an even better place to live.  KHL Big Local puts residents in charge.

Made in Corby and the KHL Big Local partnership are working in partnership to organise an arts festival for the area. They have recruited a Festival Panel made up of local residents, to organise the festival and make all key decisions about the event. The festival is due to take place on the either the 24th or 25th of September (tbc).

The festival will be a one day event, open to everybody, that celebrates the local area and provides an opportunity for the local community to come together in a relaxed, comfortable and enjoyable event.

The KHL Festival Panel are looking to commission a visual art activity, aimed at children and young people, based on the artists that streets in Hazel Leys are named after. Working with children before the festival day and an opportunity to ‘have a go’ at the activity on the festival day.  To find the streets that are named after artists, search for NN18 0RS.

Within this brief, the panel are open to all genres of the art form suggested and how the selected artist will involve the local community.

The commission fee is up to £5000.
