The Courtauld Institute of Art is seeking an outstanding fundraiser for the position of Head of Major Gifts. The successful candidate will play a critical role in expanding philanthropic investment in The Courtauld, in support of its £50m capital project ‘Courtauld Connects’, endowment, scholarships, academic programmes and collections.
Based at Somerset House in London, The Courtauld is the leading centre for the study of History of Art and conservation, and its Gallery houses one of the world’s most renowned collections. The Courtauld is an independent college of the University of London.
The Courtauld has a dynamic vision for its future and is embarking on a major programme of transformation. Philanthropy is critical to realising this vision, and the Courtauld is in the early stages of the most ambitious fundraising campaign in its history. The transformative five-year capital campaign will develop The Courtauld’s philanthropic fundraising across the board, including revenue and academic fundraising.
The Head of Major Gifts will lead a talented, motivated and energetic new team; cultivate their own major and principal-gift prospects; and play a key role in developing and implementing the fundraising strategy for the most successful campaign in the Institute’s history. As a member of the Development Office’s Leadership Team, The Head of Major Gifts will have an innovative and creative approach to developing existing and new high-value relationships to deliver philanthropic income.
The new Head of Major Gifts will have a proven track record in securing gifts at a 6 figure level from philanthropists, grant-making foundations and companies. S/he will demonstrate excellent leadership and management skills, with the gravitas and credibility to face a variety of audiences up to Board level and a passion for the aims and objectives of The Courtauld Institute of Art.
This is a unique chance to join one of the UK’s leading art and education institutions and an outstanding opportunity for a motivated, strategic, entrepreneurial individual with a track record of success to make a mark on the most exciting campaign in the institutions history.
