Marketing Coordinator

Primary is an artist-led contemporary visual arts organisation. We prioritise artistic research, provide studios and residencies to artists, and run a free public programme of exhibitions and events.

The Marketing Coordinator is a new role within the Primary staff team, working alongside the Director, Operations Manager, Engagement Curator, Assistant Curator, and Artist Development Coordinator / Curator. They will be expected to take an active role in the decision-making processes of the organisation at regular staff meetings, with a lead on marketing, audience development and communications.

We are looking for someone with strong experience in the different approaches to marketing and communications, and the ways in which these can strengthen the position of Primary within our locality and the wider contemporary art sector. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the strong administrative and project management skills essential for this role, and also the passion and commitment to contribute to the shared vision for Primary. They will be a confident communicator with a strong visual/design sense, the ability to work under pressure and flexibly as part of the team.

This is an exciting moment to join the organisation as it moves into a new phase of development, with new programmes and capital development. How we communicate the journey we are on as an organisation will be key to our future long- term growth and development. This provides the opportunity for the Marketing Coordinator to work with a range of stakeholders, develop the communities of interest that engage with our work, and have a hugely positive impact on the work and future development of Primary.
