Open Call: Emerging Artist Programme 2024

A programme providing support for early career artists in Charnwood.

Charnwood Arts will deliver a 9-month project intended to support early career artists and individuals living or practicing within Charnwood with an interest working in the arts. Participants will be offered toolkit workshops, mentoring, workspace and access support with a focus on artistic skills, financial skills and confidence building. The programme will run January – September 2024. The programme is funded by Arts Council England and supported by partners from across the Midlands.

About Charnwood Arts
Charnwood Arts embraces community, enabling people of all ages, whatever their skills, abilities and experience to access art and collaborate creatively.  We are an artist-led, independent community arts and media organisation based in the Borough of Charnwood in the East Midlands of Britain.

Who are we looking to support?

We are looking for applicants in the early stages of working in the arts, commonly referred to as an emerging artist. The term emerging artist is often used for recent graduates, but can also apply to someone who’s self-taught and made a career change or recently decided to prioritise their art.

What support are we offering?

  • Artist and professional development workshops led by guest artists and arts workers
  • Take part in an end-of-year arts project led by No Jobs in the Arts
  • Ad hoc access to workspace at Rectory Place
  • 1-2-1 mentoring with the Charnwood Arts’ team
  • £125 to support access to the programme for those who would experience difficulties to otherwise
