Project Coordinators (3 roles)

Foundations Project / Two Freelance Project Coordinators – These are new freelance positions within the British Ceramics Biennial. The Coordinators will work with BCB Education Manager to coordinate and deliver the Foundations project from February 2020 to May 2022.

The Foundations project has developed in response to the questions children ask us about clay: “Where does it come from? Why is it cracking? How does it get hard?”. Foundations will build on young people’s curiosity in materials and their immediate environment to dig down and explore the clay beneath their feet.

Taking place during school holidays, over 2 and a half years, The Clay Foundation and Hubb Foundation will work with children across Stoke-on-Trent. Sessions will be open-ended and play-based. Discoveries will be child-led and fun.

Generation Project | Freelance Project Coordinator | Role Description – This is a new freelance position within the British Ceramics Biennial. The Coordinator will work with BCB Education Manager to coordinate and deliver the Generation project February 2020 to November 2021.

Generation is a new young person-led project revaluing and reinterpreting Stoke-on-Trent’s unique ceramics heritage for the next generation. Following behind the scenes tours of heritage sites, searching archives for hidden stories, object-handling and hands-on making experiences with expert craftspeople, young people will respond to 6 mini-project briefs from the city’s key heritage institutions to co-produce assets and events for their peers. This ambitious project will develop the heritage leaders of the future, impacting on heritage organisations and practice in North Staffordshire, and beyond.
