About

Euan Uglow/Sargy Mann brings together for the first time the work of two renowned British artists, Sargy Mann (b.1937, d.2015), and Euan Uglow (b.1932, d.2000). Through their drawings and paintings, both artists attempted obsessively to capture the beauty of what they saw and experienced around them, whether it was a moment in their family’s kitchen, a life model in their studio, or a holiday landscape. Though Mann was a student of Uglow at the Slade School of Fine Art, the works featured in this exhibition reveal how both artists developed very unique methods to translate their three-dimensional experience onto the canvas.

Alongside the exhibition, you will be given the opportunity to pick up a pencil and paper and create your own sketches inspired by Uglow and Mann’s unique working methods.

This exhibition brings together major loans from the Arts Council Collection, the Government Art Collection, Hepworth Wakefield, Victoria Gallery and Museum Liverpool and Cadogan Contemporary.
