About

Broadway welcome artist and Near Now Fellow Joe McAlister to showcase a selection of past and new work, where interactive experiences seamlessly blend technology with fine art.
A computational artist and privacy advocate, Joe’s work often focuses on themes encompassing metadata, user interaction, data security, and psychology; he approaches these subjects using programming, machine learning, sculpture, projection and performance.
Two People on the Road will feature
• Interactive installations exploring the spread of misinformation and the data you choose to put online.
• Generative artwork made by bots.
• An expressive engine that uses machine learning to create poetry about images taken from open webcam streams around the world.
• A.I. experiments and playful prototypes.
Taking place throughout Broadway’s Gallery, foyer and Cafébar spaces.

Cafébars and Foyer: Monday – Sunday, 10:00AM – close.
Gallery: Monday – Saturday 1:00PM – 8:00PM. Closed on Sunday 9 Sept.

Near Now is Broadway’s studio for arts, design and innovation. We work with people and companies to make, and make sense of, technology in everyday life.
