Established in 1984, West Yorkshire Print Workshop is the largest open-access printmaking facility in Yorkshire.
We are looking to recruit practicing printmakers, with experience of teaching, to join our growing education programme on a freelance basis. Assisting us in our aim to deliver an exciting and engaging range of in-house and outreach workshops with printmaking at their core, you should be confident working with either complete beginners and/or those with more advanced experience.
Our print studios are fully equipped for screen print (paper and textiles), etching, photo-etching, solar plate, photo-plate lithography, relief print, mono-print, collagraph, cyanotypes and letterpress and you may have a specialist focus or a range of talents across these areas. We aim to cater for aspiring and practicing fine art print makers and those working within design based disciplines and so experience within either of these contexts would be advantageous.
Workshop content is negotiated via our Education Coordinator and we are particularly keen to hear from those able to offer more advanced or unusual techniques not currently supported in the workshop, combination processes and those who have experience of working with young people in or out of formal education and other community groups.
Artist tutors are paid £25p/hr with all materials and equipment for the workshop provided. Preparation time is unpaid however artists can access the workshop facilities free of charge in order to familiarise themselves with the space and prepare any teaching materials they may need. Taught sessions are flexible in terms of days and hours taught.
To apply, provide a CV, a covering letter (no longer than 2 pages) giving an overview of your specialisms and your printmaking and teaching experience and a pdf of 5 images of recent work and/or link to your website/social media.
Successful applicants will be required to provide proof of public liability and indemnity insurance (and DBS as required) prior to the delivery of any sessions. We welcome and encourage job applications from people of all backgrounds especially from those within under represented groups.
Please send applications to our Education Coordinator – Caroline Pratt – caroline@wypw.org
