1215.today commemorates 800 years of the Magna Carta in an online arts platform that gives artists and young people a space to interact. By looking, listening and talking about societal and individual rights explored through contemporary art forms we aim to agitate and engage young people to challenge the big issues important for all our futures.
1215.today has already commissioned several new works of art in digital format. We are now offering a final commission that will bring the opinions of young people together in one voice, declaring the principles they want to frame their future. We want the commissioned work in a format that can be shared, work on a small screen and presented in the public realm.
We are looking for a radical, challenging proposition that will illicit a strong response and draw young people to explore what matters to them in relation to issues prompted by Magna Carta – such as (but not limited to) power, land rights, trial by jury.
Over a several months you will be asked to create a work that will act as a new Magna Carta and in the name of young people. The commission will be premiered on 1215.Today, at Lincoln’s Frequency Festival between 20-29 October 2017 and at a special event on 4 November 2017.
