We are seeking 15 artists working in any discipline from across the UK to join our New Artist Collective (NAC), as part of ‘Taking Place’ in Lincoln – a year long programme that will focus on collaborative explorations by creatives, audiences, communities, young people and universities. We consider the opportunity a fluid one as it can run alongside your existing practice but also gives you an opportunity to step out and reflect on your process, recharge creatively and develop a strong and enduring peer network. We are looking for artists who are keen to facilitate collaboration, learn from other practices and explore what a temporary artist collective might achieve.
The programme will have an element of ‘pick n mix’ for artists. Over the year, there will be opportunities to:
- Showcase your work at two sharing weekends in Lincoln: Friday 18th – Saturday 19th November 2022/Friday 20th – Saturday 21st October, 2023
- Bid for one of three ‘self led’ collective micro-commissions in Lincoln
- Take part in talks, workshops and POP sessions both online and in the city
- Take part in 6 online network and sharing gatherings
- Undertake ‘socially-engaged practice’ training
- Deliver activities within three new commissions in Lincoln focused on socially-engaged practice, as part of our Creative Citizens programme
Artists will receive a £1000 bursary paid in two instalments, plus accommodation, travel and food expenses when in Lincoln.
UK New Artists (UKNA) opportunities are open to artists aged 18 or above who are within the first 10 years of their professional practice, and who are based in the UK (this includes UK nationals and those with the right to work or study here). Please note that artists do not need to be based in Lincoln/shire to apply for this opportunity.
