Public Art Project Manager UA50th Anniversary Commission

An external consultant is required to provide project management for the Ugandan Asian 50th Anniversary (UA50) Public Artwork Commission.

This public artwork commission will see a new permanent commemorative sculpture installed in the city. The aim of this artwork is to provide a legacy for the 50th anniversary of Ugandan Asian migration to Leicester and to recognise all individuals who have migrated to Leicester, choosing to make this city their own.

The UA50 Commission will be designed in acknowledgement and recognition of over 20,000 displaced Ugandan Asians who settled in Leicester between 1968 and 1978. This commission will inclusively celebrate Leicester’s proud history of welcoming refugees.

Join us to support the delivery of this major new public artwork, by a nationally renowned artist, in participation with members of the local community.

Interested candidates will be expected to have experience of successfully managing and delivering complex projects with an understanding of Public Art and community arts engagement. Candidates will be asked to evidence their experience of working as an effective member of a multi discipline project team.

This is a commission with an expected delivery programme over eight-months, with weekly hours in the region of 18.5, Monday to Friday. You’ll be working flexibly, including remotely. You may be required to work occasional evenings and weekends.
