About
Lola Bennett is a contemporary craft-based artist working primarily in ceramics and textiles. Her practice explores nostalgia, memory, vulnerability, and the emotional nuances of domestic and young adult life. Drawing on heritage crafts like quilting and needlepoint, she reflects on traditional female labour while challenging distinctions between craft and art. Combining ceramics with textiles, Lola creates functional, narrative-rich objects adorned with motifs from Americana, Y2K tattoo culture, rural life, and kitsch naivety.
Her work invites reflection on connection and isolation, celebrating the intimacy of making and the stories held in handmade objects. Lola’s work in this exhibition is a collection of various hand-built illustrative pottery & vessels. These selected pieces highlight the link between form, fantasy & function.
Lola graduated in 2023 from Bath Spa University and was a Spike Island Graduate Fellow 2023/24.
