About

Gallery Open Thurs – Sat 12-6pm
Opening Night Friday 12th May, 6-9pm

Shanice Simpson’s practice is an investigation into Colourism – the discrimination of individuals with dark skin, often by people from the same ethnic group – and its effect upon perceptions of beauty and limits to success. Through photography and installation her work explores colourism through TV, advertising and social media, and the influence accounts dedicated to black and brown beauty have on the black community.

Kindly supported using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England, Leicester City Council and De Montfort University.

Two Queens project space is currently accessible via a short flight of steps and therefore not wheelchair accessible. If you have any special access requirements please contact us at info@2queens.com and we will do our best to accommodate you.
